Concrete removals before commercial EV charging installation

An EV charging proposal may need existing concrete removed around a new installation, but the charger and electrical design determine that need. Siteforce assesses the defined concrete-removal portion. Charger installation, utility design and new civil construction remain with the appointed project team.

Start with the approved installation layout

Ask the electrical and civil designers to identify the actual removal boundaries, retained surfaces and known services. A line joining the electrical room to a proposed charger is not a demolition instruction. The design and required locate arrangements must address what is beneath the affected area.

Compare three concrete interfaces

Existing featureRemoval discussion
Redundant equipment padWhether the specified pad leaves and what remains around it
Route crossing an existing concrete surfaceThe reviewed removal extent and retained edges
New equipment beside retained parkingAny defined obstacles within the accepted installation area

These are illustrative situations. They do not prescribe trench dimensions, footing design or a charging layout. Asphalt removal and utility relocation should not be inferred from a concrete scope.

Coordinate access through the property

The owner and project team determine parking closures, pedestrian arrangements and material routes. An affected bay can share access with an entrance or delivery route. Compare those dependencies with the proposed work area rather than assuming the rest of the forecourt can operate unchanged.

Use the commercial yard guide for a broader circulation redesign. The EV page concentrates on the concrete interface to an appointed installation team.

Define the handover to civil and electrical work

The accepted package should state the concrete removed and the condition left for the next contractor to assess. Excavation, new foundations, reinstatement, electrical testing and charger commissioning remain separately assigned. Removal does not establish charging performance or readiness for energisation.

Request a concrete-removal assessment with the installation location, reviewed boundaries, retained surfaces and the responsible installer or GC. The concrete service page provides the existing service scope; identify unresolved design or locate questions before treating the area as released.
