Concrete Removal in Markham

Concrete removal breaks out driveways, patios, walkways and pads and takes the rubble off site so the area can be regraded or rebuilt. It is for homeowners, landscapers and contractors in Markham, York Region, north Scarborough and Pickering.

How our crew handles the work

A concrete removal project depends on access, slab condition and the finish needed for the next stage. The gallery shows different work scenes; it is not a documented sequence of a single job.

Before breaking anything we look at thickness, reinforcement and what is underneath. Wire mesh and rebar change how the slab breaks, and buried lines change where we can break at all. We request utility locates through Ontario One Call before any ground disturbance, and we plan the cut line where new concrete or pavers will meet what stays.

Smaller areas are broken by hand with electric or air hammers. Larger slabs are broken and loaded with a skid steer when access allows. We protect lawns, fences, siding and neighbouring driveways, and keep the work inside the property line.

Rubble and steel are separated where practical so concrete can go to recycling rather than landfill. Loads go out in bins or trailers placed where you agree, without blocking the street or a neighbour's access.

Concrete removal is often one part of a larger job. A driveway may come out before a new garage is built, a patio before a pool or deck, or a pad before a shed goes up. Telling us what comes next helps us leave the right edge and base depth.

When we leave, the base is exposed and raked, the edges are clean and the area around it is swept. If a landscaper or concrete contractor is following us, we can leave the base at the level they ask for.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need locates before removing a driveway in Markham?
Yes. Any ground disturbance in Ontario should start with a locate request through Ontario One Call. It is free and it shows where gas, hydro and communication lines run.
Can you remove just part of a driveway or patio?
Yes. We saw-cut or break along a planned line so the remaining concrete stays sound and the new section has a clean edge to meet.
What happens to the broken concrete?
It is loaded and hauled away. Where practical, concrete and steel are separated so the concrete can be recycled.
Will the machine damage my lawn?
We plan the route in and out and use protection where needed. Some marking on the access route can happen on soft ground, and we talk about that with you before the machine arrives.

Bring the slab-specific enquiry information

Identify the slab, pad or surface, the accepted removal limit and what remains beside or beneath it. Provide available information on thickness, reinforcement and services without treating unknowns as measured facts. The receiving contractor should identify its required condition; engineered foundations and uncertain structural connections need separate professional review. A defined facility shutdown or parking-layout change can then be assessed against the actual concrete package.
