Concrete removal for commercial parking and yard changes

A revised parking or yard layout can leave old concrete pads, walkways or barriers in the wrong places. Start with the future circulation plan and identify which existing concrete actually prevents it. The removal package is one part of the project, separate from new drainage, pavement and utility work.

Overlay the existing and proposed routes

Show vehicle entrances, pedestrian approaches, loading areas and retained building doors. Mark the accepted removal areas against that common plan. A patch described only by its dimensions may not explain its relationship to the entry or a neighbouring retained surface.

For an illustrative yard change, an obsolete concrete pad leaves to make room for a revised route. Another option retains the pad but changes an adjoining walkway. These produce different retained edges and next-trade requirements even if their overall work areas appear similar.

Identify each material and buried interface

Use concrete removal for the assessed concrete portion. Do not extend it by implication to asphalt, contaminated soil, utility relocation or drainage design. The responsible project team establishes the services information and required locate arrangements before affected ground disturbance.

If the work supports a charging installation, the EV concrete guide keeps that installer-defined interface separate from a general yard redesign.

Decide how the retained property is used

Deliveries, staff access and public entrances may depend on the same route. The property and project team need an assessed closure or separation arrangement for each phase. A mark around the concrete does not establish how a vehicle or pedestrian safely passes it.

The walkway entrance guide addresses the narrower entrance continuity question. It does not approve a traffic-management plan for a commercial yard.

Agree the receiving condition

The civil or landscape contractor should identify what it needs after the specified concrete is removed. Excavation, fill, new drainage, finished levels and new surfaces remain separately assigned. Request a Siteforce assessment with the existing/proposed layout, concrete boundaries, retained routes and the receiving contractor's contact. Avoid a general instruction to make the yard ready without defining that endpoint.
