Commercial fit-outs
Commercial laundry refit: when does the building need demolition?
A laundry equipment replacement may need no separate demolition contractor. Before asking for a strip-out, confirm what the equipment provider includes and whether the building itself changes. A room refurbishment and a former laundromat converted to another use create different building-removal needs.
Choose the actual project
| Project | Building question |
|---|---|
| Machine-only replacement | Does the provider's package require any separate building removal? |
| Laundry-room refurbishment | Which counters, enclosures or finishes change around the reviewed equipment layout? |
| Different use for former laundry premises | Which ordinary interiors obstruct the next fit-out after specialist preparation? |
The equipment owner and supplier establish handling, disconnection and installation responsibilities. Siteforce does not inherit machine, gas, plumbing or ventilation work through an ordinary commercial strip-out enquiry.
Compare two illustrative room plans
One plan keeps the machine arrangement while changing a fixed folding counter and selected finishes. The building package is confined to those accepted items and their edges. Another plan converts former laundry premises to a different commercial layout after the supplier's equipment work. It may need more ordinary partitions and finishes removed.
Neither example prescribes drainage, ventilation or anchoring. Any concrete or structural question remains separately assessed against the actual installation and retained building.
Describe the receiving surfaces
The next contractor needs the floor and wall condition beneath removed fixed items identified. Removing a counter or covering does not include levelling, new services or replacement finishes by assumption. Use the commercial flooring page to separate covering removal from substrate work.
Access and proposed service continuity belong with the property and project team. Retaining machines elsewhere does not promise that the laundry can remain open through adjacent work.
Enquire only about the separate building contribution
Send Siteforce the address and intended next use, supplier involvement and ordinary interior changes. If the equipment provider already includes all necessary removal, explain that before creating a duplicate package. The assessment should resolve the remaining building work rather than presume demolition is needed for every machine replacement.
