Basement removal before interior waterproofing
A waterproofing contractor may need access behind finished basement walls without needing the entire basement gutted. Have that contractor identify the intended work area and receiving condition first. Siteforce can then assess the ordinary interior removals that provide the agreed access.
Mark the perimeter by condition
Create a labelled plan showing finished walls, unfinished sections, fixed cupboards, retained equipment and rooms that are outside the waterproofing project. Mark the installer-defined access area separately from any optional wider renovation.
A useful annotated plan might read: north wall, finished room; east corner, retained mechanical area; south wall, existing unfinished section. These labels organise the discussion. They do not prescribe a clearance dimension or a safe removal method.
Compare access-only and a wider refit
In an access-only package, selected lining or fixed joinery leaves at the reviewed perimeter while useful room finishes remain elsewhere. A wider basement refit may remove more partitions and coverings for a changed layout. Price and programme discussions should compare those actual scopes, not assume waterproofing requires the second option.
Use the basement room-label guide to keep locations consistent. The interior demolition service is the route for assessing the finishes and fixtures involved.
Keep the slab and foundation question separate
Any proposed concrete removal needs assessment against the actual slab, retained foundation and the waterproofing design. Do not turn a generic perimeter sketch into a trench dimension or a direction to cut near a footing. The relevant professionals determine what can be opened and who performs each part.
Services and equipment beside the wall also need their responsible trades. Ask who moves or prepares them, and what remains accessible during each stage. An exposed wall does not prove that the waterproofing contractor has everything needed to proceed.
Agree what happens after removal
The waterproofing installer receives the accepted area; repair, new wall construction and finish replacement follow under their assigned scopes. Demolition offers no dry-basement guarantee. Request a Siteforce assessment with the installer, marked perimeter, retained rooms and any separate concrete-removal question.
