Unit handover decisions
Confirm authority before removing retail signs and branding
- Unit handover decisions

A shop closure may leave interior branding, sign cabinets and externally mounted signs under different ownership or maintenance arrangements. Treat each as a separate enquiry item. This prevents an interior strip-out instruction from being mistaken for approval to alter the building exterior.
Classify the sign location
Distinguish wall graphics, freestanding displays, interior illuminated signs and exterior assemblies. Note attachments to retained finishes and any visible service connection. Do not include exterior removal in the general interior scope without assessment and permission.
Confirm ownership and service work
Ask who owns the assembly, who authorises disposal and who is responsible for electrical work. A tenant's logo does not prove it owns the mounting system. Connected components should be addressed by the appropriate trade before removal is released.
Agree what remains visible
Removing a sign may expose a different paint colour, fixing holes or a backing panel. Identify whether the backing stays and who handles making good. Record the intended appearance without promising an invisible repair as part of demolition.
